Robbery Suspect Who Brutally Attacked Food Vendor in Hell’s Kitchen Nabbed, Cops Say
A suspect has been nabbed after he allegedly busted several teeth of a west side food vendor while robbing the victim of several thousand dollars in cash.
Cops nabbed a suspect in the vicious assault with a metal object of a 36 year-old food vendor on the west side that left him with several busted front teeth while robbing of $3,500 in cash.
Jeffrey Vargas, 45, was arrested and charged with robbery and assault in connection with the attack on the 36 year old street vendor near W. 49th St. & 8th Ave. at around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 7. The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and listed in stable condition.
One of these objects allegedly used by Vargas could have been some sort of metal bar, according to surveillance photos released by police. He was pictured wearing a blue, white, and black Tommy Hilfiger jacket and a NY Mets logo cap.
A coworker of the unnamed victim, Hasan Lhendeou, told the Daily News that he had encountered the suspect before. “This guy is trouble,” he said.
