NYPD: Senior Citizen Shoved Onto Tracks at Herald Square, Suspect At Large
Police are seeking a man in connection with the Dec. 15 shoving of a 72 year-old onto subway tracks at the station’s northbound F platform. The senior citizen was left with a gash in the head, and is listed in stable condition.
An unidentified man is being sought for allegedly shoving a 72 year-old man onto the northbound F tracks at the 34th St.-Herald Sq. subway station, police say. The Dec. 15 assault occurred at around 12:14 p.m. when the suspect approached the senior citizen on the platform, left the latter with a gash to the head. Other transit riders reportedly helped him get back onto the platform before a train arrived, while the suspect fled the station on foot in a “unknown direction,” cops and witnesses said.
The 72 year-old was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/ Bellevue by EMS, where he was listed in stable condition. Outside of his head laceration, he was treated for generalized soreness in his body.
The man being sought is described by the authorities as being between 40 and 50 years old and around 6 ft. tall, with facial hair. Surveillance footage released by the police shows that he was reportedly wearing a dark blue jacket, black pants, black shoes, a pair of sunglasses, and a brown beanie with a puff around the time of the assault. He also appeared to be carrying some sort of bag, as well as some sort of blanket.
