The City Parks Foundation will be running free fall soccer programs in Thomas Jefferson Park for kids aged 5-16, meaning that it’s a good time to sign-up either novice or longtime players. No prior experience is necessary! The season will run from September 21 to November 3, and will feature a few different options.

The program consists of skill training sessions, capped by a one-day soccer tournament at the end.

The newest offering is a specific program for girls aged 13-16, which City Parks says is designed to “offer a supportive environment for girls of all skill levels to make friends, build self-esteem, and most importantly, have fun!”

There is also a program for girls aged 5-7, and an all-gender program for kids aged 8-12. “ Our coaches teach kids how to pass, dribble, and kick through informal, co-ed scrimmages and instruction,” City Parks notes. At the end of the season, a one-day tournament will held in for “select participants” in each program.

Thomas Jefferson Park is a 15-acre park located between 111th and 114th Sts. City Parks Foundation is a nonprofit, founded with help by Kramer V. Kramer author Avery Corman in 1989, that serves more than 300,000 New Yorkers annually. It is widely known for sponsoring the SummerStage music venue in Central Park, alongside CapitalOne.
