Shoplifting Suspect Pulls Knife on Store Security Guard
A 21-year-old female employee of the Harmon Health & Beauty store at 2171 Broadway between West 76th St. and West 77th St. reported that at 5:34 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, a 42-year-old woman entered the location. A security officer followed the woman to make sure she wasn’t shoplifting, and the latter then displayed a knife, saying she “was going to hurt the security guard.” The guard stepped back, and the suspect took items of merchandise, placing them in a bag, as she tried to leave the store. The guard tried to stop her and a struggle ensued, but the suspect did get away with a number of goods, fleeing on foot southbound on Broadway. Stolen merchandise included 63 items, totaling $768.
Security Video Reveals Alleged Shoplifting Incident
Police stated that a male employee of the Sephora store at 2103 Broadway at West 73rd St. had reviewed security video that showed a 40-year-old man enter the location at 2:08 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, take items of merchandise from a display and conceal them in a blue laundry bag. The suspect then walked out of the store without paying. The stolen goods included 46 makeup products totaling $2,002.
Woman’s Purse Vanishes inside Starbucks
A woman told police that at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, July 8, she was using her laptop inside the Starbucks location at 141 Amsterdam Ave. at West 66th St. when she placed her purse behind her on a bench. Five minutes later she realized that her purse was missing. She canceled her credit and debit cards, and fortunately, no fraudulent transactions turned up. The items stolen included a pair of red Valentino sunglasses, $100 in cash, a pair of Bose earbuds and a wallet, totaling $1,030.
“He Stole, She Stole,” According to CVS Employee
A 24-year-old male employee of the CVS Pharmacy at 200 West End Ave. at West 69th St. reported that at 9:20 p.m. on Monday, July 4, a 38-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman entered the location, removed merchandise from shelves and left without paying. Stolen merchandise included 30 cosmetics and hair care products totaling $1,109.
This Doesn’t Bodē Well
A 51-year-old male employee of the bodē yoga studio at 143 West 72nd St. between Amsterdam Ave. and Columbus Ave. attested that at 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, a 50-year-old man entered the establishment, which was then closed for business, and took store merchandise without permission or authority. The stolen goods included five items of clothing totaling $1,454.
