Woman Dies Jumping in Front of F-Train
A 49-year-old Harlem resident jumped onto the 34th St.-Herald Square F-train station tracks.
A 49-year-old female was killed jumping in front of a Brooklyn-bound F-train on May 29. She was at the 34th St.-Herald Square F-train stop at around 7:45 a.m. when witnesses say she jumped into the tracks as a Coney Island-bound train that was pulling into the station, landing under the wheels and dying at the scene. The NYPD suspects no criminality as it appears the death was self-inflicted. Police identified the victim several days after her death as Harlem resident Sabina Garduno.
Heavy congestion and delays came from the incident, as the MTA rerouted all Brooklyn-bound F and M trains from as far as the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Ave. station in Queens. The B, F, and M trains experienced significant delays throughout the morning.
This incident appears to be a suicide. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or visit their website.
