A man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his former boss on the Upper West Side, the NYPD confirmed to The Spirit. Eduardo Diaz reportedly targeted 47 year-old Boris Shapiro on Nov. 7, a few months after he was fired from a computer repair shop known as Lincoln Business Machines Incorporated.

According to the police, Diaz shot Shapiro in the leg and shoulder near W. 69th St. and Columbus Ave. at around 9:20 a.m., a block away from the business. Multiple other bullets missed him. Prosecutors believe that the encounter began at the business. Some bullets reportedly tore through a bus stop, leaving shattered glass strewn on the sidewalk.

Shapiro was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition, while Diaz then fled into the 72nd St. subway station, cops said. They reportedly pursued Diaz with canine units and had the FDNY cut power to the subway tracks, halting commutes and shutting C train services in both directions. The suspect allegedly managed to escape through a subway hatch. Commuters were told to lie on the floor while police searched their cars.

Diaz, a 42 year-old resident of Queens, was taken into custody the next day and hit with charges including attempted murder and “recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon.” He was taken to the hospital before his arraignment. He is being held without bail.

According to the authorities, Diaz worked at the shop remotely, and had sent Shapiro multiple threatening messages before the shooting.
