A man’s bicycle was stolen July 26 while visiting a friend on West 85th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West. The 32-year-old Upper West Side resident told police he locked his $5,500 bicycle to the scaffolding at 7 p.m. He was in his friend’s apartment for 10 minutes. When he returned, the bike was missing and the cut chain was left.

It is a memorial unlike most, decorated with the standard flowers and photography, as well as reflectors and spare parts.
