Rachel Erlich believes in providing more than the usual apartment-hunting experience. She believes in personal interactions, a comforting experience for her clients and finding a solution that leaves everyone happy.
Erlich, 47, began Rachel Realty in 2004 after having worked for two other real estate companies. “I chose not to work for a big company, because I believed in the old mom-and-pop school,” she said. “I believe there is something in good service.” She started the business with just two other women, and in the past six years her small realty company has grown to 20 employees. ‘Chirp’ Your Property Price
If you have ever taken a cab in New York City, chances are you have seen advertisements for Bid on the City, a real estate service that lets you bid on high-end commercial and residential properties in New York City. If the owner accepts your bid on a property, which is typically worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, you get to purchase it.
REchirp.com works with a similar concept: Interested buyers or renters go to the website, browse the listings and make a bid or a “chirp.” If your chirp is accepted by the owner, you get to start negotiations. Read more

During the final months of 2008, Upper West Side rents were high and there were a limited number of available apartments. Broker Rachel Erlich frequently saw owners tell prospective tenants with concerns to take it or leave it.
Erlich, with 18 years in the real estate industry, now sees a different environment for renters.
“Business is here if the owners are willing to give the right price,” said Erlich, who started Rachel Realty NYC five years ago, exclusively working with Upper West Side properties. “There are always deals to be done.” Read more
