Missing Jewelry
A 31-year-old woman reported jewelry and other items missing from her apartment Feb. 27. Police said when the victim returned to her home on Riverside Drive and West 80th Street, she found that the door was unlocked. Stolen items included a $3,000 flute, a Mac laptop and $2,250 in earrings and necklaces.
Muggers Nabbed
Police collared two men and charged them with robbery after they mugged a man at 1995 Broadway and West 68th Street. Cops said that at 2 a.m., Jan. 30, one mugger asked a 28-year-old Queens man if he could have a laptop. When the victim said he wasn’t carrying one, another mugger lifted his shirt to show a firearm in his waistband. Cops said the armed mugger told the victim to take his jacket off. The two thieves, 19-year-old Paul Dixon and 20-year-old Joshua Rivera, allegedly stole the jacket, as well as a cell phone and wallet. The duo jumped into a cab and were later picked up when police canvassed the area.
Bound and Robbed
A woman was robbed in her Upper West Side home on Nov. 4 at 3:45 p.m. Police said the robber followed the 42-year-old woman to her home on West 81st Street between Amsterdam and Columbus avenues. When she unlocked her door, he pushed her into the apartment. The robber displayed a knife and tied her hands and feet, according to cops. He made off with jewelry and a laptop.
Kid’s Laptop Stolen
A 12-year-old student at York Prep had his laptop stolen as he walked to school on Nov. 2 at 12:40 p.m. He told police that a mugger came up from behind him and said, “Don’t yell, don’t scream. Give me your laptop.” The boy handed it over and the mugger fled, cops said.
Laptop Lifted from Window
A laptop was stolen on Aug. 26 from the first-floor apartment of a building at West 74th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. Police said that around 12:30 p.m., the laptop owner, a 40-year-old man, saw visible damage to the gate covering the window. Cops said the window had been opened from the outside with a tool.
Bad Bathroom Break
A 51-year-old man contacted police when he noticed that his pills and laptop were missing after he went to his bathroom. The man, who lives on West 95th Street and West End Avenue, said that at 10 p.m. on June 7, he left his room for “20 seconds” to use the bathroom, according to cops. He closed the door behind him without turning the lock. When he returned, his $600 Apple laptop, 280 tablets of painkillers and other prescribed medication was missing. The report did not indicate whether or not the building was an SRO.
Laptop Swiped
Like a pie cooling on a window sill, someone stole a laptop placed near an unlocked window on May 18 around 1:30 p.m. The $1,433 Mac book was stolen from 319 W. 84th St. and West End Avenue, police said. Witnesses around the building told cops that an unknown man was loitering around the neighborhood.
