Construction Site Burglarized

A construction site at 180 Amsterdam Ave. and West 68th Street was the site of a break-in. Police said that Jan. 8, an employee at Nevco Contracting noticed that someone had forcibly broken into four offices and stolen $5,800 worth of tools. The employee suspects the burglary happened the previous weekend.

Construction Site Burglarized

A construction site at Riverside Boulevard, in the West 60s, was burglarized on Aug. 26. Cops said employees discovered that $3,000 worth of equipment, owned by a Hempstead, Long Island company, was taken from the site. The burglar simply walked in and stole a bag with the items. There were no cameras on the property.

Columbus Sq. Labor Fracas

Rats and pigs are the newest tenants of the Columbus Square rental complex, along Columbus Avenue in the upper West 90s. The giant inflatable rodent, which at press time had been replaced with a cigar-smoking pig, are both the handiwork of local labor unions protesting the switch to non-union workers at the construction site. Co-developers the Chetrit Group and Stellar Management made the change at the beginning of July. Read more
