Battery
A youth used a baseball bat to make his point in an argument. At 8 p.m. on Friday, September 26, a 21-year-old man got in a fight with a friend at 210 W. 64th Street and wound up hitting his buddy with a baseball bat. The injured amigo was taken to the hospital, but the attacker has not yet been arrested.
Strip Rip
Once again, test strips proved tempting targets for a thief. At 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, a man entered the Duane Reade store at 2025 Broadway and made off with $3,100 worth of Bayer and Crest test strips. Video is available of the theft.
Cash Dash
A truck driver learned the hard way how quickly a robber can strike. At 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, an unknown perpetrator entered a commercial truck parked outside 101 W. 67th Street and stole $1,500 in cash.
On the Floor and Out the Door
The floor seems like a good enough place to leave your bag – until a thief steals it. At 1 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, a 40-year-old woman left her bag on the floor in the French Roast cafe at 2340 Broadway. When she next reached for her bag, she found that it was missing, along with her wallet and credit cards. Astute Crime Watch readers may recall last week’s report of another floor bag snatch at the same café some twelve hours before this one; customers at this establishment should keep a sharp eye – or hand – on their belongings.
The Jog Is Up
A young jogger got a very poor run for his money. At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, a 16-year-old boy left his property unattended while he went for a run at Riverside Park and West 72nd Street. When he returned to recover his property, he found that his bag was gone, as well as a cell phone and wallet containing credit cards and cash totaling $895.
