Pedicab Driver Attacked

A parking garage employee was arrested Jan. 31 after attacking a pedicab driver. The victim, a 29-year-old Brooklyn man, was trying to get his pedicab out of the garage, at 1 Central Park West between West 60th and 61st streets, at around 9 a.m., police said. That’s when Romeo Siguenza, 66, allegedly hit him with a wooden stick. Police said Siguenza was angry that the pedicab driver was taking too long to leave the garage.
Muggers Nabbed

Police collared two men and charged them with robbery after they mugged a man at 1995 Broadway and West 68th Street. Cops said that at 2 a.m., Jan. 30, one mugger asked a 28-year-old Queens man if he could have a laptop. When the victim said he wasn’t carrying one, another mugger lifted his shirt to show a firearm in his waistband. Cops said the armed mugger told the victim to take his jacket off. The two thieves, 19-year-old Paul Dixon and 20-year-old Joshua Rivera, allegedly stole the jacket, as well as a cell phone and wallet. The duo jumped into a cab and were later picked up when police canvassed the area.
Sliced With Knife

A man was taken to Roosevelt Hospital Jan. 30 when he was attacked with a knife during a 2:20 a.m. argument. Police said that the victim, a 19-year-old Staten Island resident, was in a verbal argument with the suspect over a girl. The fight, at 263 West End Ave. and West 72nd Street, turned physical when the suspect, a 20-year-old man, pulled out a black gravity knife. The suspect allegedly tried to stab the victim, but he blocked it with his left hand, sustaining a laceration, police said.
Fast Burglar

A woman’s apartment on West End Avenue and West 83rd Street was burglarized Jan. 29. Police said that at 8:10 p.m. that evening, the 22-year-old woman left the apartment door open when she went to the building’s lobby to pick up her child. When she retuned, a $200 portable DVD player was missing, according to cops.
Drama at the Movies

A man was arrested for stealing purses Jan. 29 at the Loews Theater at 1998 Broadway and West 68th Street. Police said a day before his arrest, 21-year-old Nicholas Fairclough went to the fourth-floor IMAX theater and stole the purse of a 44-year-old Upper East Side woman. Fairclough then went to the handicapped aisle to steal another purse.
The day of his arrest, he was spotted entering and remaining unlawfully at the theater, intent on committing a crime, according to cops. Police said Fairclough bypassed all theater agents and appropriate entrances. At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of items reported stolen, and was charged with grand larceny and burglary.
Sexual Assault in Building Vestibule

A 48-year-old man was arrested and charged with forcible touching. Police said that at 12:25 a.m., Jan. 30, John Zaubler was running naked through the public hallway of an apartment building at West 82nd Street and Central Park West. He approached a 39-year-old woman in the building’s vestibule and put his arm around her midsection, squeezing and rubbing against her.
Subway Kiosk Assault

Two men mugged and assaulted a subway kiosk employee. Police said that at 6:45 a.m., Jan. 7, a man approached the employee manning the platform kiosk, at the West 66th Street 1 stop, and asked for a pack of cigarettes. Then another man forcibly entered the kiosk, trying to get cash and merchandise. Cops said he punched the employee, a 59-year-old Queens man, in the face. The other mugger, who had a knife, jumped over the counter and grabbed $1,500 in cash, a phone card, 15 cigarette cartons valued at $1,400 and a pack of 20 MetroCards.
Construction Site Burglarized

A construction site at 180 Amsterdam Ave. and West 68th Street was the site of a break-in. Police said that Jan. 8, an employee at Nevco Contracting noticed that someone had forcibly broken into four offices and stolen $5,800 worth of tools. The employee suspects the burglary happened the previous weekend.
Pill Heist at Drug Store

Three men are suspected of making off with thousands of dollars worth of pills from the Duane Reade at 4 Amsterdam Ave. and West 60th Street. Police said that at 9:30 a.m., Jan. 10, one man acted as lookout while two others put a large amount of medication in their jackets. When the store manager approached, one reportedly said, “Back away or I’m going to hurt you.” He put a hand in his pocket, possibly holding a gun, police said. The men fled in a green car and drove north on Amsterdam. They made off with 265 packs of Tylenol and Mucinex pills worth $2,481.
Teen Mugged For Phone

A 13-year-old boy was mugged for his cell phone Jan. 6 at 5:50 p.m. Police said he was approached by three muggers wearing black masks and hooded sweatshirts on the corner of West End Avenue and West 81st Street, a block away from the victim’s home. One perp reportedly said, “Give me your phone. Don’t run or scream. We have a gun. Don’t call the cops.” The boy handed over the phone, police said, and all three muggers fled north on West End Avenue.
